What makes SOPAA's structure different
- Members' interests are our first and only interests. SOPAA has no party-political wing or other body that could take priority over members' interests.
- Zero party-political contributions - the constitution makes any executive who attempts a political contribution personally liable, which protects members' money from being used to fund a political party or cause.
- Executive refreshment - after the inaugural period, the State President, Vice President and Treasurer must change every two years. No jobs for life.
- Separation of policy determination and service provision - the elected executive sets policy; contracted service providers handle service delivery.
- Devolved branch structure with automatic fee-sharing and local decision-making, run from the members up.

The SOPAA constitutions
The SOPAA Ltd constitution provides the basis for a new type of organisation that focuses exclusively on protecting and promoting the workplace interests of its members. It's registered as a company limited by guarantee with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, holding SOPAA Ltd to the same federal standards as other not-for-profit companies limited by guarantee.
SOPAA Inc is an industrial association registered with Consumer Affairs Victoria, acting as a sister organisation to SOPAA Ltd to protect members' industrial interests.
